Paris is comprised of 20different neighborhoods named arrondissements. They are numbered 1-20. When choosing how to navigate and where to stay take this into consideration. The best places to find your hotel are in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th.

These are the main areas for sights and you can easily walk between all of them or take the metro. You are never more than 500 meters from a Metro station anywhere in Paris, so use it.

The other Arrodissements are great to visit but just a little too far out to use as a base. Remember you can walk almost everywhere, example: It is a 10-15 min walk between the Eiffel Tower and the Arch De Triomphe and another 10-15 between the Champs Elysee and the Musee du Louvre area. From the Louvre you can easily walk to Notre Dame or the Opera, so Parisis not so spread out. If you are tired of walking try the Metro or Taxi.
